Creep

by Matt Sommers

2000

I got excited about the prospect of manipulating acoustic sound waves - which are figuring more prominently in the recipe. Snippets of noises start creeping in. Sound becomes composition becomes vibe becomes sculpture.

This album contains my first stab at a vocal-based pop song in a long time, "Crazy", which became a Lines of Nazca favorite. A cut-up John Lennon interview is the basis for "Revolution 10". The acoustic track "Just Guitar" was originally played over "Rev 10", but sounded better just by itself. "Environmentally Retarded" is the sound track to an art installation piece by Lisa Ruth. The voice on "Rotation" is an instructor from my son's school.

The cover is blurred shag carpet.
